The label: ecological, economical, social
Since February 2008, the Edelmann sites in Heidenheim, Germany, and Edelmann France - La Spic, have been authorised to use the ecological label of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This label stands for sustainable forestry and, if requested by the customer, can be printed on Edelmann’s folding cartons, as long as the raw material comes from an FSC-certified source . For consumers, the FSC label symbolises responsible usage of board as a raw material, in other words, a positive commitment towards the environment as well as the social and economic situations of people whose livelihoods depend on forestry.
The production chain: closed
The FSC is an international organisation that works to promote sustainable forestry around the world, in accordance with the relevant ecological, economic and social guide-lines.
Companies that choose to work with the FSC automatically become part of a certified production chain – from forestry operations through to printing. A comprehensive con-trol system guarantees compliance with all FSC standards.

What does this mean for Edelmann?
As soon as goods are received, FSC material is identified, registered and allocated to
the designated print order.
It is not mixed with non-certified material. 100% traceability and comprehensive
documentation of the raw materials used ensure that this is the case.
Edelmann employees receive intensive training on handling certified material.

The first Edelmann Group customers have already decided to use the FSC standard on
their packaging and are thus sending a clear message with regard to protecting the environment. End consumers will be delighted.
