YIN YANG Packaging Series – ProCarton/ECMA Award for Edelmann

Heidenheim, 3 January 2012. YIN YANG, the new range of face care products by Deynique Cosmetics, has been launched in packaging made by the Edelmann Group. The German specialist for folding cartons, leaflets and system solutions for the beauty and health care market created a multi-piece packaging solution for the YIN YANG range with a clear design and unusual construction, which elegantly and harmoniously reflects the Asian philosophy of the two opposite forces of yin and yang. The graphic design was carried out in collaboration with the creative partner Eyedea Werbe GmbH. Now the packaging has been honoured with the ProCarton /ECMA Award 2011 in the “Beauty & Cosmetics” category.

The Asian philosophy focuses on two conflicting forces that are present everywhere in nature: yin and yang. These cannot exist without one another, like hot and cold, tension and relaxation, plus and minus, activity and tranquillity.
If both sides are balanced, our life energy flows through complementary opposites. This harmony and balance are reflected in the product, the material and the packaging design. The product itself is a natural product, and the considerable amount of white in the board material emphasises its natural protection and purity.

A characteristic of the packaging is its reduced design, which is accentuated by concise shapes and clear lines, as well as a band of equal width that harmoniously encircles the packaging. The recessed front emphasises the three-dimensional effect and all edges are faced with a folded flap so that the back of the board remains invisible even after opening. A matt finish, embossing and structural embossing techniques as well as silver-film-coated lettering give the multi-piece folding carton its harmonious, elegant design.
